Product Description Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

Very intriguing! July 28, 2010 D. Bainbridge (NV) This series has been so captivating. I loved the plot. Though I am somewhat frustrated with the relationship of Katniss and her men.
More suspense, same great pace July 27, 2010 Mary Logan (GREENSBURG, PA, US) Readers of The Hunger Games will NOT be disappointed by this sequel. One of the best things about the series in general is the present-tense narrator-driven point of view and the loaded pace. I practically galloped through this as fast as the first one. Just when you think you know what's going to happen...
If you don't read this after reading The Hunger Games you are doing yourself a complete disservice.
I wasn't sure about it from the reviews.... July 27, 2010 Jane ..... but soon after i started i couldn't stop reading. The book had the same grasping effect that the first had; where you had to read it through all the way to the end and it was agonizing to put it down and not know the ending. Even though I thought I knew how it was going to turn out every surprise captivated me and added more suspense. The books are fairly easy to read, though the themes are more advanced for a younger audience, and the pace keeps the story moving along like the first book so you never get bored. The first book was incredible and, despite the other comment about it being a middle book, I thought it was more serious than the first. More was at stake in this book than just their own lives. This makes everything more risky and all their actions guarded. I like this suspense and what it adds to the story. I also enjoy how Peeta and Katniss's relationship is not so pretending as in the last book, but more genuine (at least from Katniss's side, Peeta was always genuine). But the title is fulfilling, everything really does seem to "catch fire" and we are left on a cliff waiting to see how large the explosion will be. I don't know how she is going to unfold all the things she set up to happen but, I have confidence in her writing for the next book as the last two were exceptional and haven't let me down yet.
I think there was a bloodstain in my book. July 26, 2010 B. L. Koch A worthy followup to the Hunger Games. I thought the ending to this book would have fit better onto the end of the first one. But I guess I'll save that for the fan fic.
Even more exciting than the last July 25, 2010 L. Michel (USA) [SPOILERS AHEAD]
I just finished the last page, and am intensely eager to get my hands on the next and final installment of this trilogy. I was a bit bored by the beginning, and I still feel some of it could have been cut down, but the Games this book were even more exciting than the last, which is why I have to give it 5 stars. (I actually liked the non-Games part of the first book, but didn't like the Games as much.)
Especially the characters--they were much more developed than in the last, and I found myself rooting for a lot of them. Also, I think the ending is a much better lead-in to the last book than the first was to this one. I mean, yes--cliffhangers suck. I guess I'm just lucky I held off on reading it for so long, so my wait time is only a month!
I really want to see what District 13 will be like, and the rescue mission to get Peeta back. This book amazed me at the cleverness of the scenarios Collins set up, and I can only hope that the next will do the same. (I mean, who saw that ending coming? Not me.) I had hoped last book that they would introduce more of an element of Capitol rebellion, but in retrospect I am very glad she waited. I think the pacing is perfect, and the game is all set. We'll see just how many pieces remain intact by the end; with this series, there's guaranteed to be a lot of bloodshed either way.
