Product Description With this charming book, children will delight in learning the basic moves of chess - the most popular and challenging strategy game of all. All the rules of chess are clearly explained, step by step, assuming no prior knowledge. The lessons are reinforced by the inventive tales that George is told by his pet alligator Kirsty, self-proclaimed Grand Alligator of chess. Chess is recognized in many countries as a useful tool for developing creative thinking in children. Although chess can be regarded as a rather complex and mysterious game, the rules themselves are straightforward. It doesn't take long to learn how the pieces move, and even children as young as five can enjoy exciting games. They will also thoroughly enjoy outwitting friends and relatives!

Very good book for kids October 5, 2009 George Vallejo (Miami, Florida USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought it for my son (he's 6) and he loves it. It's well organized and easy for him to understand. Most importantly, he's learning the game from it.
I taught chess to my granddaughter with it. September 2, 2009 Raul Torres 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I taught chess to my nine year old granddaughter with this book. She was interested and found it easy to follow. After a few hours of theory and practice, we were playing chess. It is an excellent tool to teach children the basic game and beginners should keep it as reference.

Our hungry for knowledge six-yr-old loves the book so far. We have about a third of it completed.
We recommend it, but more importantly...so does she.

My kids (8 and 6) got interested in chess and I was looking for an easy-to-read book for them to explain them the basics. This book was just right: Good explanations, funny cartoons and all. I certainly can recommend it.
