5 out of 5 stars Great family fun   July 12, 2010

Bought the game because Dave Ramsey recommended it. Our kids are 17, 15, and 13, and we all love it and play it with grandparents as well. It's also nice because it creates conversation as well as promotes strategy and learning.

5 out of 5 stars Great family game!   July 2, 2010

I purchased this before my family - grown children and grandchildren - all went to the beach. The entire family loved playing this at night. Everyone can play - as the answers are all numbers and if you don't know you write down your best guess and then the answers are displayed and you wager on the answer you think is correct. My 14 year old grandson love it! He found he used some of that stuff he was learning in school....lol. Great game.

Considering the glowing reviews posted for Wits and Wagers, looks like I'm the one outlier, which seemed to be a common theme as I played this game. Most of my opponents were generally dead-on with their guesses; I was miles off every time. I think I'm considered fairly intelligent by most standards (I kick butt at Jeopardy) but my wife and I agree--in this game it doesn't matter how much you know. If you're not a good guesser, the game makes you feel like a complete idiot. I think both of us wanted to cry afterward.

Besides all that, I felt that the "betting on your guesses" concept was boring and stale. I remember thinking "Wait. This is all there is? You just guess and then throw chips down?" Yep, that's pretty much it. "Snoozefest" would be an understatement. If you're not into betting, there's not much else going on here, besides the occasional funny question (but if I want to hear more of those, I'll just read the cards--beats playing the game).

Bottom line...do I recommend this game? Maybe...if you have no other games in the house (including Hungry Hungry Hippos, Scooby Doo Monopoly, or a Gameboy) and you don't mind looking like a moron in front of your family or friends when the answer is six and you have guessed 57,000.

4 out of 5 stars Great Game! Cheap pieces, and board.   June 28, 2010

The game is great, it is fast paced and it is fun for all ages. The only negative is the chips and board(Felt Board). The chips are just thin pieces of plastic, we purchased some actual poker chips for the game because the kids can't bend and break them as easily and they are more fun to play with. The felt board is nice, but they really should have glued it to some hard cardboard. It is impossible to play on the carpet, and we have had it for a while and there are still weird folds in the felt and the chips don't sit on it very well.

But the game is a lot of fun and is a must buy. Someday maybe they will make the physical equipment a little better and it would be the best game ever.

5 out of 5 stars I was suprised to find that i love this game   May 24, 2010

i am usually into games like taboo, apples to apples & games like that & never have been into trivia games. Honestly i am not the brightest of people & dont like to look stupid with trivia games lol so when my brother made me play this i was not happy. After the 3rd question i was in love~!! all answers are number answers so everyone has a chance to be right & even then it isnt about having the right answer its about betting on the right answer. Everyone lays there answers out & then the betting begins you place chips (just like a roulette kinda thing) on the answer or answers you think are right & you are only able to bet on up to 2 answers & then whoever bet on the correct answer gets paid out in chips based on how much you bet. & those who have bets on losing answers lose all the chips they bet on that space.
