Product Description Are you a hero? You and your crewmates man the battlestations of a working starship, moving around on the module layout to maneuver your ship on the hex map. You turn the ship in the Helm, you pump for power back in the Engines. Experience simultaneous ship-to-ship combat and boarding action! Battlestations is a character-based adventure game of simultaneous ship-to-ship and boarding combat in space. Players work together against the forces controlled by the referee. Battlestations can be played as one-off missions or as part of an ongoing campaign. You'll track character's positions on the spaceship layouts and the ships' positions on the hex map. The action in Battlestations is literally character driven. If you want the ship to turn or speed up, a character has to take an action to make is so. If you want the ship's guns to fire at an enemy ship, a character has to take an action to fire the guns. The 2008 Revised edition is fully compatible with all Battlestations products. Game includes: 112 page rulebook (ooc0812), 48 full-color double-sided modules, 4 full color double-sided map board/control cards, 4 full color double-sided map board/cheat sheets, Full color markers: (80) .7" markers (32) hex-shaped markers., Full-color fold-up counters, 10 glass beads, 6 black dice, 2 starships (New to this edition!)...all in a sturdy box!

| Customer Reviews: Fantastic way to blend spaceship and personnel combat. January 18, 2010 Hubcap (Oregon) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game has simple mechanics (roll two dice and add your skill level to beat target difficulty). The skills cover all the major actions you're likely to do or face. Skills also vary by species and experience, and ship plans are modular, so you have a lot of variations. Premade missions are clear and could've come out of any science fiction novel; Referees are also able to create their own. Possible to play solitaire by having other characters as robots, but it does take a lot longer for turns. Think pulp science fiction as opposed to Star Trek, although certain references on the box indicate that's in progress (as a joint effort with the Amarillo Games franchise, the ones that made Starfleed Battles, likely a variant of their Prime Directive references). Definitely recommend, a great way to do an "episode" of any space series!
